Birthdays...

Both Annabelle and Bernt had their birthdays in Holland. Because Annabelle had never celebrated her birthday in Holland, and Bernt’s last was his 25^th, we had a combined “1^st and 26^th” birthday party on June 21. We organised it at a restaurant near Hilversum, centrally located in Holland to minimise people’s travel time. It was lovely to see a lot of our Dutch friends and family there, including Bernt’s godfather Henny who was just about to turn 81 himself (June 26, the day after Bernt’s birthday).
Henny’s health had been going downhill for the past couple of years and he hadn’t been outside the home for quite a while, but he insisted to Nel (his wife) that he wanted to be at our party.
